Tempore Process of TMT Bars – Things to Know

When you make TMT bar purchases, it can be easier for you to slash the expenses of construction and make your constructed structures much stronger. There are lots of reasons why TMT Steel bars are used in construction today and the fantastic properties explain its high demand in the market. These are loved by many engineers, home contractors, homeowners, and architects today.
The Tempo reprocess for reinforcement bar production is a patented process, where water is used to surface-quench hot-rolled bars intensively. This is done right after the steel bar is brought out of a hot rolling stand in a rolling mill. During subsequent air cooling, due to retained heat dissipation from the core, the outer layer of the bar gets tempered.
This is one of the important thermo-mechanical processes and was developed during the early 1970s by CRM at Liege Belgium, for the production of weldable and high yield strength rebars from mild steel billets, with no loss of ductility or without adding in micro-alloying elements.

How Does the Tempore Process Work?

This process makes TMT reinforcement steel bars stronger by rapid cooling and then heating again, and ultimately compressing – to get outstanding ductility and strength.
The heated Steel billets get rolled in rolling mills and get the final shape and size. After that, these are ready for processing. There are three phases of this process:

  • Right after TMT bars get out of the mill stand, these get quenched. The bars are cooled rapidly with water sprays, with the help of cooling systems. This makes the external surface layer hardened by transforming it to Marten site.
  • Right after the quenching, there is the flow of the higher cold temperature to the cold surface layer – which has been transformed into Martensite. The layer is tempered by the higher core temperature. The Tempcore process gets its name from the self-tempering from the core through residual heat.
  • Ultimately the rebar is placed on the cooling bed, where the core is transformed into a ferrite polite structure by atmospheric cooling. It is then compressed, to get expanded and then strengthened.

TMT bars get their fine properties by the Tempcore process due to fast cooling. These bars are flexible and have a fantastic quality due to re-warming at the last stage. When these bars come out of the stand, they are extinguished by cool water. The external surface layer is solidified and then again exposed to a higher center temperature.
Ductility, weld ability, and flexibility as well as higher strength are some important properties that you should check while choosing a TMT brand for your home construction. TMT Steel bars from some brands are less rust-prone and have a superior thermal resistance. While looking for TMT Steel Bars for your home construction, you always need to look for these features.
